This has been a big week. First, we took some maternity pictures that we hope to be able to post here in a week or two. Professionally done by a local lady here in Reno. She’s also likely going to be the one to do our baby pictures.
Then shortly after: Another A+ appointment with Dr. Omar. Things continue to track well and she says she doesn’t see any indications that this baby might be coming early. Of course, no one knows for sure when things will happen. Coming up on 37weeks!
And to top off the week. We met with our potential pediatrician for an interview. The interview went both ways! End result is that he likes us and we really like him. He also comes highly recommended by the Pediatric staff at the hospital -so that is a good sign. OH, and his name is Dr. Daniel Columbo.
In addition to the Baby shower a few weeks ago, the folks at work put on baby shower at the hospital. It was real nice and casual. It was in between shifts so many people came in and out. Overall a very nice turnout and everyone was so generous.
Another A+ grade from Dr. Omar! Things are coming along nicely.
This was the last of the semi-monthly appointments and from here on out we go ever week!
Notice all the pictures in the background of this (one of many) exam room? –These are pictures of some of the babies that Dr. Omar has delivered. Her patients and the babies very much appreciate her. We do too, we think she is great.
This is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. Kathy brought this home from work.
A few of the nurses that she works with built this for Kathy? …it is amazing (ok, i’ve never seen one before so maybe I’m easily impressed)
It is called a diaper cake and it is made out of diapers! …and it looks like a cake.
So, what is holding it together? (my curiosity was killing me) ….Behind the diapers and flowers, in the center ….plastic baby bottles are holding it together.
Kris, Rose and Barbara put on a great baby shower. It was here at the house, but the trio did all the work including great food and fun. Both Grandmas were here and the all-girls party was wonderful.
Too many nice presents -including a Coach diaper bag, (uh, from Grandma Rose no doubt) nice strollers, car seats, hand knitted outfits, booties from Italy and many many useful presents.
Barbara was nice enough to take some video and some of the baby shower can be seen in the video below:
We’ve got a bunch of pictures to go through, and when we, do we’ll add them to this post!
Thanks everyone for a wonderful baby shower. You are all too generous.
It was kind of interesting and we learned a few things. Most of the stuff we either kind of knew or seems to be common sense -but the class was definitely worth while. It kinda helped with the reality that in a few weeks there’s going to be a new person on the outside of the tummy. That reality is kinda weird.
We expected to be the oldest people in the class, but there were other old people there! That was nice 🙂
The class was down at Renown South Meadows and the instructor was good. Amazing that breast feeding is like a specialized field -with specialists who coach etc etc. Who would have thought?
About half of the class time? was spent watching videos, the other half on lecture and questions/answers. People take this subject very seriously, there were a lot of questions! Most of them from the men! (maybe they’re just more curious?)
After the class we celebrated with Baskin Robbins -and caught it on 2-for-1 night so that was a double treat!
Mom wears the baby very well ….and lately (aprox33weeks) the tummy has really uh, let’s just say made itself the focal point. -sometimes it seems bigger than others. Here is one of those times:
Front view; Side view; and the “Watch Out! -it’s coming at you get out of the way view!

Still plenty to do in the baby’s room, but at this point we have all the big furniture in place.
We will not do a theme until after the baby is here and we know boy or girl …right now it is a very loose “Jungle Theme”
Starting out: A very nice Pottery Barn Crib that Grandma Rose bought. A matching changing table and finally a gliding/rocker chair. The chair’s colors are not the best, but the deal couldn’t be beat so we’re going to have the cushions re-done once we have a theme.
So, medical science and math have calculated the baby’s arrival on Feb 26 (yes 2009 🙂 )
When you do think the baby will arrive Feel free to comment on when you believe the baby will arrive –and we can all come back to this post, read the comments and see who was the closest!
By the way –> Mommy-Kathryn says:? February 14th ? ; Daddy-John says February 28th
