Grace’s Room “Thanks Karin”

Big THANKS to Karin who -one of her gifts to Grace was using her time and HUGE talent to make Grace’s Room Beautiful.  Karin did the very fancy window treatment, designed and built the pillows, re-upholstered the chair and automan, made the crib skirt …and the list goes on and on.

Karin, you are so generous and so talented, we can’t thank you enough. Grace’s room is the nicest room in the house and it is where everyone wants to spend their time.

First Night In Her Own Room

Last night grace had a major milestone. No more sleeping in the little crib in mom and dad’s room. Instead, now in the big crib in her own room.

The first night went very well, Grace slept great, in fact slept through the night and well into the next morning! Here she is when mom came to welcome her to a new day! (video below)

Mom & Grace -Getting Familiar With The Big Crib

Grace has been sleeping in a small crib in Mom & Dad’s room. But soon she’ll be spending her nights in her own room, in her fancy big crib. Kathy and Grace have been spending some time getting familiar with the new environment!

This video is of grace on one of the practice sessions:

39+ weeks and still waiting ….

Not much new -except that we’re getting more and more excited.

John was away for a couple of days on a business trip and we were a little anxious about the timing ..but it all worked out great and the baby got a new piece of clothing from Dad’s trip to Arizona:

A leisurely weekend here as we double check everything, knowing it could be any day

….The baby’s room is not yet gender-specific as we don’t know whether boy or girl yet …but Kathy has plans and fabric in place for either. We’ll find out which way the room will be customized after the baby arrives!

Kathy’s friend has already volunteered to do all the sewing (for all you who know that Kathy is no Martha Stewart)

Fabric ready --if the baby is a boy

And the baby? is well equipped with everything from clothes, to diapers to everything imaginable, the drawers and closet are to the top! A very luck baby -and much thanks owed to the generosity of family and friends

All clothes are already pre-washed and ready to go. At this pace the baby will need a full walk-in closet by 6mos.

Assembling the new stroller and portable crib

Well, we know things are getting close, so we decided to assemble some of the things that baby will need.

First off, we teamed up to tackle the portable crib.  This thing is fancy, but we were able to figure it out 🙂

Then we put together the very fancy stroller!!   ….and then a tiny test drive around the kitchen

“Big” furniture is in …but plenty left to do.

Still plenty to do in the baby’s room, but at this point we have all the big furniture in place.

We will not do a theme until after the baby is here and we know boy or girl …right now it is a very loose “Jungle Theme”

Starting out:  A very nice Pottery Barn Crib that Grandma Rose bought. A matching changing table and finally a gliding/rocker chair.  The chair’s colors are not the best, but the deal couldn’t be beat so we’re going to have the cushions re-done once we have a theme.
