Van Gorder put on an exhibition of art work from all classrooms as well as live projects. Add a book fair to the mix and it made for a great evening at Van Gorder Elementary.
Grace and Dad were two of the first people there! Uhhh, and by a long ways were the last ones out the door, more than a full evening.
Saw many teachers and friends, including Mrs. Kattelman, Mrs. Axley, and Mrs. Evers. Bought some 2nd Grade art work created by Grace Austin and also bought three great books at the book fair. …Last ones out the door and when Grace got home she started to read one of her books.
Great weekend mini-vacation road-trip in our local area. Saturday morning up to Lake Tahoe with lots of fun. Then some exploring including Kirkwood meadows. Then dropped down into Minden where we stayed at CVI and Grace did lots of swimming Saturday night and Sunday morning. Then more good food and a detour through Virginia City. Back home Sunday evening, a great weekend. Pictures Below, Video Coming Soon

Mondays are a big day, but last night Grace asked Dad to wake her up early so that there would be time to do something fun before school. Well a compromise was reached and woke up Grace at 6am (instead of 6:15’ish) to allow time for a stop at Starbucks on the way to the before school program.
OH, and the Grace’s patented Dad-Pony-Tail is a big hit. Grace is such a great person.
Grace went down to Fizio this morning. The great folks from Desert Sky Adventures were putting on a run and brunch. We didn’t know what to expect, but figured how could we go wrong heading to downtown Reno on a nice brisk day! Even though most of yesterday’s snow was gone, we could still have fun outside.
We got there just as the informal event instructions were happening. Many runners were doing 11 miles, but you could turn around anytime if you wanted less miles and of course you could set your own pace.
Without question, the highlight of the morning was meeting Kym from Desert Sky Adventures. She was an event coordinator and walked/ran with Grace and was delightful in all ways. Together they went FOUR miles. Their MPH pace was not overly impressive, but their WPM from constant dialogue and giggling was for the record books.
Grace and the Austin clan are very eager to reciprocate Kym’s kindness and we’ve signed up for “The Biggest Little Half Marathon” ..in the weeks ahead Grace will be training for 5K at this event. That will be her 3rd competitive 5K. Dad raised his hand to volunteer.
After the run we played at a downtown park with Zoey.
