Another A+ grade from Dr. Omar! Things are coming along nicely.
This was the last of the semi-monthly appointments and from here on out we go ever week!
Notice all the pictures in the background of this (one of many) exam room? –These are pictures of some of the babies that Dr. Omar has delivered. Her patients and the babies very much appreciate her. We do too, we think she is great.
It was kind of interesting and we learned a few things. Most of the stuff we either kind of knew or seems to be common sense -but the class was definitely worth while. It kinda helped with the reality that in a few weeks there’s going to be a new person on the outside of the tummy. That reality is kinda weird.
We expected to be the oldest people in the class, but there were other old people there! That was nice 🙂
The class was down at Renown South Meadows and the instructor was good. Amazing that breast feeding is like a specialized field -with specialists who coach etc etc. Who would have thought?
About half of the class time? was spent watching videos, the other half on lecture and questions/answers. People take this subject very seriously, there were a lot of questions! Most of them from the men! (maybe they’re just more curious?)
After the class we celebrated with Baskin Robbins -and caught it on 2-for-1 night so that was a double treat!
Still plenty to do in the baby’s room, but at this point we have all the big furniture in place.
We will not do a theme until after the baby is here and we know boy or girl …right now it is a very loose “Jungle Theme”
Starting out: A very nice Pottery Barn Crib that Grandma Rose bought. A matching changing table and finally a gliding/rocker chair. The chair’s colors are not the best, but the deal couldn’t be beat so we’re going to have the cushions re-done once we have a theme.
We debated, but finally decided to do the new technology of: 3-D ultrasound images.
It is kinda of a bizarre technology as it takes and image and data from a traditional ultrasound and computer-generates 3-D images so that you can see facial definitions etc.
The window to do this is pretty narrow. Too early and the baby is not developed enough. To the contrary, past about 31weeks, things start getting pretty cramped in there -squished babies don’t look that good we’re told. So, the ideal window is around 28 to 30 weeks it seems. We figured one time chance so we did it!
It is kinda fun and we discovered when you look at other people’s results, you’re not too impressed. But when it’s YOUR baby, it is really cool. Funny how that works.
Make up your own mind, here are a few of the pics:
The first one shows the baby in 3-d ..as does the 2nd picture, Notice the feet and toes that baby likes to suck on. The third picture is a traditional ultrasound.
