Nice Gift From Butt Lite VIII

A few weeks back Grace was asked to help with a big competitive motorcycle endurance rally that had a mandatory checkpoint in Reno USA. Pics and such

Fast forward …..an unexpected package arrives from Lisa E and it was an honorary rally flag to show appreciation for the hard work. Grace helped at the checkpoint (up until 2am at night and then back up at 5am!) and then went out to Gerlach to assist some more!

Big thanks to Lisa E and the Butt Lite crew for the nice gift. BTW Grace took it to school as part of her story of the things she did over summer vacation. Oh and if you don’t know what “Butt Lite” means, ….well if you have to ask you don’t need to know.

Hunter Creek Falls

Gracey + Zoey + Dad went on a BIG hike today. Hunter Creek Falls. The trailhead starts on the west side of reno and then does a big ascent up into the Sierras. Trial is mostly out of the tree-line in medium tough terrain and is HOT, especially today with mostly no shade and it was hovering on triple digits. The trail mostly follows the creek and has a few crossings. Eventually you reach Hunter Creek Falls which is quite amazing and nice and a great treat. The hike is an out-n-back, -a bit over 6 miles but by the time you goof around a bit it’s likely closer to 7 to 8 miles. Final elevation is just under 6500 feet ..the trail has relatively dramatic elevation gain.

We thought we took plenty of water, but we ran out and ended up drinking creek water to stay hydrated and cool.

We knew it was going to be a tough and fun hike, but we got a lot more of both tough and fun than we expected!! It was a great day!!

V I D E O : (with some still pictures)
We were on the trail (mostly in hot sun) for about 6hours! and we took about 30minutes of video, and added some still pictures. Only retired grandparents have time to watch 30minutes of our hike, so here it is in fast-forward (X4) …you won’t be able to understand what we’re saying (we sound like mice) but you’ll get the idea.

Here is video at only 2 times normal speed:

Two Of A Kind

The Grace-Zoey relationship is as unique as Grace and Zoey. It ain’t right, but it’s alright. Grace was in a particularly silly mood tonight when we made these videos, and Zoey decided she wanted to hear the word “sit” three times before considering taking action.
Nevertheless, these two somehow make it all work …and in spite of each other, are truly best friends.

4th July San Francisco Bay Area

What a trip! Arrived Friday PM in Oakland, our favorite waterfront hotel. Nice evening swim, then out for BBQ dinner, then ice cream. Ooops, forgot to mention Cha Cha lessons.
Saturday: Ferry into San Francisco, lots of walking, good fun, great sites and food (great Italian dinner North Beach). Then, back to Oakland, quick stop by our hotel then BART to Oakland A’s game (extra innings!) + Fireworks! We arrived back to Hotel at 1:00am!
Sunday: Back into SF for the CA science museum etc etc, ..all day long! then Golden Gate Park plus sight-seeing. Eventually back to Oakland for an awesome dinner.
Monday (July 4th) Bagels in Oakland, then to Piedmont (east Oakland) to meet the White family and the great Piedmont 4th July parade (Yes Mr+Mrs White were in the parade!) we watched it with our friend Claire White. Great small town fun and festivities!

Eventually headed east -early dinner in downtown Sacramento then back to Reno USA! Wow, what a weekend!
